Vine Community Church started on a farm in the middle of nowhere several miles outside of El Dorado, KS. For the first few months of our life together we met in a large living room/kitchen area in the home of some of our charter members. Our pastors literally preached from a homemade pulpit with a kitchen sink right behind them. This was an incredibly sweet time that none of us will ever forget. Even in these early days we established the most important things that would carry on through the life of our church: Word & Community.
We sang the Word together, prayed the Word together, and sat under the preaching of the Word together. The community that was forming was also extremely encouraging. Families would stay and fellowship for hours, even after our time of worship ended. This is what the community Christ, created through his resurrection, was intended to be. Our hosts were incredibly gracious, but it became clear to us all (and especially to them) that by the time we were consistently having 120 people in their living room & kitchen, we had outgrown our meeting space! So we moved to the El Dorado Senior Center in July of 2023 where we still meet to this day.
Vine Community Church covenanted together and formulated ourselves as a church on September 24th, 2023. Leading up to this date our pastors led us through a sermon series called "What is the Church?" so that we could all be of one heart and mind as to what exactly it was we were aiming to become. On this glorious day, we baptized two people into the church, partook of the Lord’s Supper for the first time, and rejoiced in the Lord’s faithfulness to start a new church in the heart of El Dorado.
Expository preaching is at the core of our Word ministry and the very first book VCC ever walked through together as a congregation was Ephesians. Through this book we exalted in the doctrines of grace, learned more of God’s plan for his church, and got very practical with how the Gospel plays itself out in every sphere of life.
In September and October of 2024, one year after we became a church, the Lord graciously allowed us to achieve three goals we had set to start our first full year. We added three biblically qualified men as elders, one biblically qualified man as a deacon, and launched our Vine Groups. With these foundations laid, the Word at the center of all we do, and a thriving multigenerational community committed to Christ & His Word, we are excited to see how God continues to use Vine Community Church in our community and to the ends of the earth for many generations to come.
